Friday Asian: CoCo Lee

CoCo Lee, née Ferren Lee, was born in Hong Kong on the 17th of January 1975. Although she was born in Hong Kong, CoCo was raised in San Francisco where she grew up with her mother, stepfather and two older sisters (her father passed away when she was young). She shared her singing talent with her two older sisters and her mother, who was a doctor.

"I also combined the R&B feel with the pop music of Taiwan...I wanted to bring the R&B flavor and other Westernized sounds to my music, because that's the type of music I grew up listening to." -CoCo Lee
Although she has had enormous success outside US shores, she has yet to break the Billboard charts -- but don't hold your breath because her music label is about to heavily promote their budding star.

Thursday Asian: Bai Ling

Bai Ling (meaning "White Spirit") was born in Chengdu, China, on October 10, 1970, during that country's Cultural Revolution. Her father was a music teacher, and her mother was a dancer and stage actress. As a result of their creative professions, the government cruelly treated Bai Ling's parents, and so the infant Bai Ling was sent to Szechwan to be raised by her grandmother.

"I had heard about how people struggle and how hard it is to get into acting. But I did not care because it's something I love." -Bai Ling

Bai Ling came to the United States looking to work in Western cinema. After small parts in The Crow and Nixon, Ling had an important role in Red Corner, which was, at the same time, her breakthrough in the West and her break with the East. Since then, she's proven herself in nearly every kind of film, from Wild Wild West to Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith.

Wednesday Asian: Kelly Hu

Kelly Ann Hu was born February 13, 1968, in Honolulu, Hawaii, of Cantonese/English/Hawaiian lineage. Her parents divorced when she was only six years old, and, living with her mother Juanita, Kelly benefited from an upbringing as diversified as her background.

Kelly's modeling background seems to have endowed her with a sense of grace and elegance, and she always looks very glamorous. She seems to put a lot of effort into her appearance, and although we can appreciate class as much as the next guy, it would be nice to see her in jeans and a white T-shirt once in a while.

"I've managed to keep my clothes on for everything I've done so far." -Kelly Hu
If you're a female with Hawaiian in your genes, it's difficult not to be sexy. If you have a brown belt in karate on top of that, well, there's just no getting around it. Kelly can claim both of these assets, as well as sizzling looks and ultra-confidence. Yeah, she's sexy.

Tuesday Asian: Zhang Ziyi (The Geisha)

Zhang Ziyi was born on February 9, 1979, in Beijing, China, and is the daughter of an economist father and a kindergarten teacher. Raised with her older brother in an urban, working-class part of Beijing, Zhang was originally interested in dance and gymnastics.

Zhang Ziyi attended Beijing's Central Academy of Drama for a year, and began her acting career in the 1999 Chinese drama The Road Home. The rigorous demands of studying gymnastics helped her master the physical requirements of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and her mental strength kept her from letting the rigors of a hectic schedule bring her down.

"Chinese women are much more modest than American women when it comes to clothes. We tend to show less flesh." -Zhang Ziyi

Monday Asian: Lucy Liu

It's in the Italian neighborhood of Queens, New York that Lucy Alexis Liu was born on December 2, 1968. Her childhood in Jackson Heights with her brother and sister resembled that of many immigrant families. Even though it was difficult, her Chinese parents, a biochemist and a civil engineer, raised their children the American way.

"I was taught not to take anything for granted. If you are too busy being a diva or a freak, then you are not enjoying it." -Lucy Liu
Lucy Liu is to Hollywood what BMW is to the automotive trade; she looks good, works even better, and it took a while for people to notice just how valuable she really is. But now that her face is familiar and her name is on everybody's tongue, she rivals the biggest and brightest stars, as far as we are concerned.

Thursday Supermodel: Tyra Banks

Tyra was born in Los Angeles on December 4th, 1973, to a very loving and supportive family. Despite the divorce of her parents when she was only six years old, and the torments of her older brother Devin, Tyra's youth was happy and trouble-free.

"Black women have always been these vixens, these animalistic erotic women. Why can't we just be the sexy American girl next door?" -Tyra Banks, on her status as a sex symbol.
Not too long ago, Tyra Banks was inescapable with her smile shining on television commercials, talk shows and what seemed like almost every other magazine cover out there.

People still tend to think of Tyra Banks as "just a model," but with an appearance in three movies that recently came out, including Coyote Ugly, she's ready to show the world that she can do more than just pose for photographers.

Tuesday Supermodel: Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum (pronounced "Kloom") was born June 1st, 1973, in Bergische Gladbach, a small city in Germany. Practically destined to be a fashion model, Heidi's father, Gunther, worked for a cosmetics company, while her mother, Erna, was a hairdresser.

18 years old and still in high school, Heidi came across an ad for a model competition in her area while reading a magazine. While she was intrigued by the idea, she never even dreamed of the possibility of entering, much less of winning, but her friend had a different attitude and encouraged her to send in some photos.

Heidi Klum is a regular model for Victoria's Secret and Sports Illustrated, and has become one of the most recognizable and highest paid models in the world.

"You should spend your money on some nice lingerie. Big wool cotton pants, that just doesn't work. You have to feel sexy." -Heidi Klum, on her work with Victoria's Secret

Heidi Klum is undoubtedly one of the most famous models in the world (and with no exaggeration, one of the most beautiful). Merely in her late-twenties, she seems poised for the kind of longevity in the business not often seen among the top fashion models, with endorsements and photo shoots coming at her as quickly as she jots them down in her Palm Pilot.

Friday Celebrity: Angelina Jolie

Born June 4, 1975, Angelina Jolie Voight, daughter of Oscar winning actor Jon Voight and actress Marcheline Bertrand, used her middle name as her last name (the French translation of beautiful), probably in order to succeed, independent of her father's success as an actor. At age 11, Jolie began studying acting at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute, six years after making her film debut in Lookin' to Get Out, starring her father.

She's beautiful, she's eccentric, and she's highly intelligent. She questions what goes on around her and she's not afraid to be sexual. Not to mention, she's a great actress and proved it time and time again with movies like Gia and The Bone Collector.
Angelina Jolie is an exotic combination of beauty, talent and deadly charm. You want to kiss her all over, even though she may pull out a knife on you at any time (she has a fascination with them). She is open to anything and has proven, through her diverse film career and choice in husbands, that she's willing to try anything at least once.

To give Angelina a grade just post a comment with your grade and opinion about here (the opinion is optional).
